Welp, I signed up for another Marathon…

Much to the chagrin of my husband, friends, family, co-workers, and my sanity, I know I can do better than my performance at the 2017 Marine Corps Marathon and thus, I’ve committed. The time is right in terms of life and work, and I need something to keep me on track for a healthy, happy 2019!

Oh, and don’t pay any mind to the fact that in November of 2017, I did indeed post in this very space a blog titled “My one and (probably) only marathon,” which I concluded with the following:

“I’m never doing that again,” I said aloud to myself, then again at the snack tent, and then again to my family when I finally found them. My dad and husband took bets on when I’d change my mind. So far, one month later, I’m still not quite ready to think about doing that again. Right now, half marathons and 10-milers sound pretty darn great to me!

Well, I guess in a little over 13 months, after this year which included 3 half marathons and a bunch of shorter races, I felt ready enough to pull the trigger and sign up for the 2019 Philadelphia Marathon at the end of November. I’m also planning to enter the lottery for the 2019 New York City Marathon which is 3 weeks before Philly, but I hear the statistical chances of getting in are super duper low. If magic happens, I’ll either scrap Philly, reduce it to a half, orrrr just go all in crazy and run both!

I also have two half marathons and a 5-miler on the books for 2019 already, with a few more halves likely fitting in as a part of marathon training once I get that all sorted out and scheduled. First up is a half marathon in April in NYC, after which my attention will turn to marathon training.

Oh, and I may do another sprint Tri in there, just because if I’m going to go all in — — why not?! But seriously, it’s great crosstraining motivation!
